Spreaders

The spreader is the last link in the chain of equipment for continuous overburden removal. ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik has built spreaders for all capacities throughout the world. The service weight of the equipment ranges from 70 to 5,400 tonnes.

Picture 1 shows one of this machines operating in a German open pit mine of RWE. C-Frame spreaders are built for a large number of applications. Custom designed and built for the specific operating conditions they range in capacities from 1,500bcm/h to 4,500bcm/h.

Picture 3 shows a direct dumping system which was designed for a strip mining operation in the USA. Two bucketwheel excavators transfered the material to the XPS® spreader. The cross pit spreader discharge boom length was 207 m.

Spreaders are built since overburden material has been transported with large conveyors. They have been developed as the last element of the conveying line for dumping the overburden on the outside and inside dumps of the mines. Spreaders are an essential part of the "German open pit mining technology". ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik manufactures this type of machines since 70 years. All together more than 280 machines have been built.
